What is a Master Key System?

The term Master Keying refers to a system of keying that enables keys to operate some locks, but not others, within a building or complex. A carefully designed master key system will ensure that users have access to the areas of the building they need without having to carry numerous keys.

Master Key Systems are used to control access to the various areas of a building or complex by granting access to groups of doors, to specific users, or groups of users. The doors controlled by a master keys system can be conventional doors locks, or other lock cylinders, such as padlocks and gate locks.

Where are Master Key Systems Used?

Master key systems provide key control and access control and are suitable for applications including:

  • Commercial and Industrial Premises
  • Apartment Complexes
  • Hotels and Resorts
  • Schools
  • Councils
  • Mining Sites
  • Government Facilities
  • Hospitals and Health Care Facilities

Restricting Key Duplication

For even greater access control and security, Master Key Systems can be installed using Restricted Keying components.  This helps stop unauthorised key duplication by your friends or staff.
